Taxonomy
Quercus eoxalapensis was named by MacGinitie (1941). Its type specimen is U.C. Mus. Pal. Paleobot. Ser., cotypes nos. 2165, 2166. Its type locality is UCMP loc. P3320, Buckeye Flat, which is in an Eocene floodplain claystone in California.
