Hispanomys freudenthali
Taxonomy
Hispanomys freudenthali was named by van de Weerd (1976) [Type site is Masada del Valle 2 (MDV2) and the holotype is held at the Instituto Provincial de Paleontologia, Sabadell.]. Its type specimen is MDV2 1241, a tooth (a left upper M1), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Masada del Valle 2, which is in the Turolian of horizon the Alfambra Formation Spain.

A. van de Weerd 1976 | A large Hispanomys species, with complete ectolophs in upper M1 and upper M2 and with five roots in most upper M1s. The anterolophid is absent in most lower molars. H. freudenthali is larger than H. nombrevillae, H. aragonensis, H. thaleri and H. peralensis, and is smaller than Ruscinomys schaubi. |
