Trochonema (Eunema) kaysi was named by Rohr et al. (1981) [Trochonema (Eunema) kaysi]. Its type specimen is GSC 62681, a shell, and it is not a trace fossil.

It was recombined as Globonema kaysi by Wagner (1999), Wagner (1999), Wagner (2023).
