L. G. Barnes et al. 1995A species of Chonecetus differing from C. goedertorum, new species, by having paired clefts on either side of the midline of the intertemporal region, smaller zygomatic process of the squamosal, smaller occipital condyles with a shallower intercondylar notch, a more arcuate anterior border of the occipital shield, more transversely expanded anterior process of periotic, posterior process of periotic short in the odontocete fashion, not extended laterally between exoccipital and squamosal.
