Dimorpharaea was named by de Fromentel (1861) [Sepkoski's age data: J Bajo K m Sepkoski's reference number: 796]. It is not extant. Its type is Microsolena koechlini.
It was assigned to Scleractinia by Sepkoski (2002); to Microsolenidae by Morycowa and Decrouez (2006); and to Comoseridae by Cairns et al. (2010).
