Hykeliphyllum was named by Eliasova (1975) [Sepkoski's age data: J u Sepkoski's reference number: 658]. It is not extant. Its type is Hykeliphyllum lepidum.

It was assigned to Amphiastraeidae by Eliasova (1975); to Scleractinia by Sepkoski (2002); and to Amphiastreidae by Baron-Szabo (2021).
