Microsolenastraea was named by Turnsek and Mihajlovic (1981) [Sepkoski's age data: K Barr K Apti-l Sepkoski's reference number: 819]. It is not extant. Its type is Microsolenastraea balcanica.
It was assigned to Microsolenidae by Baron-Szabo (2002); to Scleractinia by Sepkoski (2002); and to Comoseridae by Cairns et al. (2010).
