Enaliarctos tedfordi

Taxonomy
Enaliarctos tedfordi was named by Berta (1991). Its type specimen is USNM 206273, a partial skull (cranium lacking rostrum and left jaw fragment), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Deer Creek, which is in a Chattian marine sandstone/siltstone in the Yaquina Formation of Oregon.

A. Berta 1991Distinguished from other species of Enaliarctos by having smaller, less well-developed metacone crests on P^"^. Distinguished from E. mitchelli in primitively retaining dorsally arched ventral portion of zygoma and having posterior portion of palate joining palate between die roots of M^ Distinguished from E. mealsi and E. barnesi in having reduced cheek teeth cingula, P* with a short metacone.
