Bellerophon labyrinthodes was named by Whidborne (1896). It is not a trace fossil.

It was recombined as Bellerophon (Aglaoglypta) labyrinthodes by Amler and Heidelberger (2003); it was recombined as Aglaoglypta labyrinthodes by Wagner et al. (2007), Wagner (2023).
