Pleurotomaria cytherea was named by Perner (1903) [Pleurotomaria Cytherea Barrande in Perner 1903]. It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Tachlovice, which is in a Gorstian marine horizon in the Kopanina Formation of Czechia.
It was recombined as Pleurotomaria (Bembexia) cytherea by Perner (1907); it was recombined as Pleurorima cytherea by Wagner (2023).
