Taxonomy
Bellerophon natator was named by Hall (1860). It is not a trace fossil.

It was recombined as Patellilabia natator by Ulrich and Scofield (1897); it was recombined as Phragmostoma natator by Clarke (1904); it was recombined as Phragmosphaera natator by Knight (1945), Rollins et al. (1971), Wagner (2023).
