Taxonomy
Trisauropodiscus was named by Ellenberger (1970). It is considered to be a form taxon. Its type is Trisauropodiscus aviforma.

It was synonymized subjectively with Gruipeda by de Valais and Melchor (2008).

It was assigned to Coelurosauria by Ellenberger (1972); to Trisauropodiscidae by Lockley et al. (1992); to Theropoda by Romero Molina et al. (2003); and to Theropoda by Knoll (2005).

M. G. Lockley et al. 1992Tetradactyl or tridactyl slender-toed aviform tracks with wide digit divarication angles. Size range form about 2-7 cm ( width divarication between digits II and IV in the range of 90°-120°. Trackways with relatively long steps (about four times foot length) and positive (inward) rotation of axis of digit III. Hallux length and orientation variable; impressions faint or absent in some examples.
