Discotropis was named by Yochelson (1956) [Sepkoski's age data: C Mosc Tr Nori Sepkoski's reference number: 797]. It is not extant. Its type is Discotropis publicus.
It was assigned to Omphalotrochidae by Knight et al. (1960), Morris and Cleevely (1981); to Euomphalina by Sepkoski (2002); and to Euomphalidae by Linsley and Kier (1984), Nützel and Ketwetsuriya (2016).
