Diagnosis

L. O'Dogherty et al. 2006Test generally composed of three segments. Cephalis
small, hemispherical, partly encased in thorax. Thorax
much larger, inflated, not submerged in the abdomen. Abdomen
subglobular, distally constricted, usually somewhat larger than
thorax. Aperture always present. Lumbar stricture well pronounced.
Cephalis generally poreless, all the other segments
bear circular pores. In some species, apical and ventral spines of
the initial skeleton are prolonged outside the cephalic wall.
