Cricetodon sansaniensis was named by Lartet (1851) [Lectotype selected by Fahlbusch (1964: 14).]. It is not extant. Its type specimen is MNHN Lartet 10''', a tooth (M1 sup. sin.). It is the type species of Cricetodon.
