Taxonomy
Chronolestes was named by Beard and Wang (1995). It is not extant. Its type is Chronolestes simul. It is the type genus of Chronolestinae. It was considered monophyletic by Beard and Wang (1995), Beard et al. (2016).
It was assigned to Chronolestinae by Beard and Wang (1995); to Plesiadapoidea by Bloch et al. (2007); and to Carpolestidae by Beard et al. (2016).
