Taxonomy
Epitonium aequabile was named by Kellum (1926) [DISTRIBUTION: Late Eocene; North Carolina.]. It is not a trace fossil. Its type locality is USGS 10340, 10613 (City Rock quarry near cemetery), which is in a Bartonian deep subtidal ramp wackestone/grainstone in the Castle Hayne Formation of North Carolina.

It was recombined as Epitonium (Epitonium) aequabile by Hendy et al. (2008).
