Eomesodon liassicus

Taxonomy
Pycnodus liassicus was named by Egerton (1854). Its type specimen is BMNH 19864, a partial skeleton, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Barrow-on-Soar (Egerton Coll.), which is in a Planorbis marine limestone in the United Kingdom.

It was recombined as Mesodon liassicus by Woodward (1895); it was recombined as Eomesodon liassicus by Woodward (1918), Gardiner (1960), Poyato-Ariza and Wenz (2002).
