Waribole was named by Richter and Richter (1926) [Sepkoski's age data: D Fame-m C Mosc-l Sepkoski's reference number: 802,892]. It is not extant.

It was reranked as Cyrtosymbole (Waribole) by Osmólska (1962); it was reranked as Archegonus (Waribole) by Hahn and Hahn (1969).

It was assigned to Cyrtosymbole by Osmólska (1962); to Archegonus by Hahn and Hahn (1969); to Proetida by Sepkoski (2002); to Proetidae by Jell and Adrain (2002); to Cyrtosymbolinae by Basse and Lemke (2020); and to Archegoninae by Hahn et al. (2012), Brezinski (2025).
