Taxonomy
Aucella malayomaorica was named by Krumbeck (1923) [TYPE LOCALITY: Waikato South Head, Port Waikato (Ohauan: Lw Tithonian); TYPE REPOSITORY: Natural History Museum, Vienna.]. Its type specimen is PN7 RL-6-5, a valve (left valve), and it is a 3D body fossil.

It was recombined as Buchia malayomaorica by Marwick (1953); it was recombined as Malayomaorica malayomaorica by Skwarko (1967).
