Heterodontobatis paucicarinata was named by Landemaine (1991). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Moulin de la Chaussée (MCH), which is in a Cenomanian paralic siliciclastic in France.
It was recombined as Heterodontus paucicarinatus by Cahuzac et al. (2007).
