Taxonomy
Acanthalomina was named by Prantl and Pribyl (1949).

It was synonymized subjectively with Leonaspis by Whittington (1956); it was reranked as Leonaspis (Acanthalomina) by Churkin (1961); it was reranked as Diacanthaspis (Acanthalomina) by Ramsköld and Chatterton (1991), Ramsköld and Chatterton (1991).

It was assigned to Leonaspis by Churkin (1961); to Diacanthaspis by Ramsköld and Chatterton (1991), Ramsköld and Chatterton (1991); and to Odontopleuridae by Jell and Adrain (2002), Kiessling (2003).
