Taxonomy
Tylaster priscus was named by Valette (1928). It is not extant. Its type specimen is Lectotypes at University of Burgundy and University Claude Bernard Lyon 1.

It was corrected as Tylaster priscum by Valette (1929), Mercier (1935); it was recombined as Tylasteria prisca by Valette (1929), Breton (1992).

G. Breton 1992Form stellate, robust. Disk and arms clearly differentiated. Interbrachial arc concave. Arms slender. Marginal plates short, numerous. Superomarginal and inferomarginal plates alternating. One row of abactinal plates separates the superomarginals on the entire arm length. Inferomarginals larger than the superomarginals. Profile of the superomarginal convex. Profile of the inferomarginals angular. Abradial side of the marginals verticals. External face domed. Ornament of large, dense granule-pits, of variable size. The largest ones projecting in the center of the external face. Adradial side of the superomarginals smooth. Terminal conical, with distally a face for articulation of one spine.
