Triton tasmanicus was named by Johnston (1879) [DISTRIBUTION: Cenozoic; Southern Australia.]. It is not a trace fossil.

It was recombined as Epidromus tasmanicus by Tate (1888); it was recombined as Ratifusus tasmanicus by Darragh (1970).
