Bathytormus wilckensi was named by Median and Rinaldi (1978) [DISTRIBUTION: Eocene; Seymour Island, Antarctica.]. Its type specimen is CE PI 0015, a shell, and it is not a trace fossil.
It was recombined as Eucrassatella wilckensi by Zinsmeister (1984), Stilwell and Zinsmeister (1992).
