Taxonomy
Engoniophos vadosus was named by Gardner (1926) [DISTRIBTION: Early Miocene; Florida.]. It is not a trace fossil. Its type locality is USGS Loc. 3742 - Mossyhead [Shoal River Fm], which is in a Serravallian marine marl/sandstone in the Shoal River Formation of Florida.
It was recombined as Strombinophos vadosus by Woodring (1964).
