Taxonomy
Guildayomys matthewsi was named by Storer (2004). Its type specimen is YG 98.210, a tooth (left M1), and it is not a trace fossil. Its type locality is Thistle Creek, which is in a Pleistocene terrestrial siltstone in Canada.
