Platydyptes novaezealandiae

Taxonomy
Pachydyptes novaezealandiae was named by Oliver (1930). Its type specimen is DM 1451, a partial skeleton, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Oamaru, which is in a Runangan coastal limestone in the Ototara Limestone Formation of New Zealand.

It was recombined as Platydyptes novaezealandiae by Marples (1952), Brodkorb (1963), Simpson (1971), Mayr (2009).
