Marplesornis novaezealandiae

Taxonomy
Palaeospheniscus novaezealandiae was named by Marples (1960). Its type specimen is CM 16527, a partial skeleton, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Motunau, which is in a Nukumaruan coastal mudstone in the Greta Siltstone Formation of New Zealand.

It was recombined as Marplesornis novaezealandiae by Simpson (1972), Fordyce (1982), Fordyce (1991) and Ksepka and Bertelli (2006).
