It was reranked as Trophon (Aspella) by Dall (1892).

It was assigned to Trophon by Dall (1892); to Muricinae by Vokes (1975), Wilson (1994); to Neogastropoda by Sepkoski (2002); and to Muricidae by Todd (2001), Landau et al. (2007).
