Scobinella caelata was named by Conrad (1848) [DISTRIBUTION: Oligocene; Mississippi.]. It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Vicksburg, which is in a Rupelian marine marl in the Byram Marl Formation of Mississippi. It is the type species of Scobinella.
