Petenyia katrinae

Taxonomy
Petenyia katrinae was named by Qiu and Storch (2000). Its type specimen is IVPP V11887, a tooth (P4 sup. sin.), and it is not a trace fossil. Its type locality is Bilike, which is in a Pliocene lacustrine horizon in China.

Diagnosis

Z. Qiu and G. Storch 2000P4 with trapezoidal occlusal outline. Protocone of P4 well developed, protruding anteriorly from the mesial tooth margin and with strong longitudinal posterior crest. Parastyle of P4 distinctly projecting anteriorly, with high and sharp parastylar ridge. Hypoconal cingulum of P4 oriented longitudinally; M1-2 with narrow cingulum around basis of protocone.
