Cypraea zebra was named by Linnaeus (1758) [DISTRIBUTION: Pleistocene-Recent; Western Atlantic.]. It is extant.

It was recombined as Trona (Macrocypraea) zebra by Schilder (1939); it was recombined as Cypraea (Trona) zebra by Weisbord (1962); it was recombined as Macrocypraea zebra by Jung (1971).

Synonyms
  • Cypraea exanthema was named by Linnaeus (1767) [DISTRIBUTION: Pleistocene-Recent; Western Atlantic.]. It is extant.

    It was synonymized subjectively with Cypraea (Trona) zebra by Weisbord (1962); it was synonymized subjectively with Macrocypraea zebra by Hendy et al. (2008).
