Taxonomy
Volvaria galba was named by Conrad (1833) [DISTRIBUTION: Middle Eocene; Gulf Coastal Plain.]. Its type specimen is ANSP 30548, a shell, and it is not a trace fossil.

It was recombined as Bulla galba by Conrad (1834); it was recombined as Cylichna galba by Conrad (1865), Heilprin (1879); it was recombined as Bulla (Cylichna) galba by de Gregorio (1890); it was recombined as Cylichnina galba by Palmer (1937); it was recombined as Retusa (Cylichnina) galba by Glibert (1962), Palmer and Brann (1966).

Synonyms
  • Bulla sthillairii was named by Lea (1833) [DISTRIBUTION: Middle Eocene; Gulf Coastal Plain.]. Its type specimen is ANSP 5486, a shell, and it is not a trace fossil.

    It was recombined as Cylichna sthillairii by Cossmann (1893); it was synonymized subjectively with Retusa (Cylichnina) galba by Palmer and Brann (1966).
