Eotalpa belgica

Taxonomy
Eotalpa belgica was named by Smith (2007). Its type specimen is IRSNB M 1930, a tooth (M1 sup. sin.), and it is not a trace fossil. Its type locality is Boutersem TGV, which is in a Rupelian fluvial-lacustrine sandstone in the Borgloon Formation of Belgium.

R. Smith 2007Eotalpa belgica n. sp. diffère de E. anglica par la taille des molaires plus petite. Sur M1 : par la possession de cinq cuspides stylaires crestiformes ; par le lobe parastylaire présentant un angle inférieur ou égal à 60° ; par l’absence de précingulum et de postcingulum et par la présence d’un métacingulum. Sur M2 : par
le lobe parastylaire présentant un angle de + 90° ; par la protofosse fortement allongée dans le sens antéropostérieur,
par l’absence de métaconule et par le bord antérieur de la dent sub-parallèle au bord postérieur.
Molaires inférieures aux cuspides élancées et acuminées ; protoconide et hypoconide pincés antéropostérieurement ; crête oblique non ascendante, médiane sur m1 et m2 ; précingulide, ectocingulide et postcingulide disjoints ; hypoflexide long et large.
