Taxonomy
Izikoziphius rossi was named by Bianucci et al. (2007). Its type specimen is PEM N 3265, a partial skull (partial skull including the rostru, the anterior part of the cranium, and the vertex), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Southern Africa, offshore, which is in a Miocene/Pliocene marine phosphorite in South Africa.
