Taxonomy
Izikoziphius angustus was named by Bianucci et al. (2007). Its type specimen is SAM PQ 3004, a partial skull (partial skull including the rostrum and most of the dorsal surface of teh cranium with the vertex), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Izikoziphius type locality, which is in a Miocene/Miocene marine phosphorite in South Africa.
