Taxonomy
Mya intermedia was named by Sowerby (1814) [DISTRIBUTON: Early Eocene-Oligocene; Western Europe, Mediterranean, Pakistan.]. It is not a trace fossil.

It was recombined as Glycymeris intermedia by Sacco (1901); it was recombined as Panopaea intermedia by Hassan (1953); it was recombined as Panope intermedia by Iqbal (1973); it was recombined as Panopea intermedia by Cox (1931), Jeffery and Tracey (1997).
