Crommium (Euspirocrommium) was named by Sacco (1890) [Sepkoski's age data: K Turo T Ol-u Sepkoski's reference number: 909]. Its type is Crommium degensis.

It was reranked as Ampullospira (Euspirocrommium) by Vredenburg (1928); it was Amaurellina (Euspirocrommium) by Turner (1938) and Harzhauser et al. (2002); it was reranked as Euspirocrommium by Marincovich (1977), Majima (1989), Sepkoski (2002), Darragh and Kendrick (2008), Pacaud and Ledon (2014) and Darragh (2017).
