Taxonomy
Ophiopetra bathonica was named by Hess (1964). It is not a trace fossil. Its type locality is Ophiuroidea, Bathonian, Chippenham, Wiltshire, UK, which is in a Bathonian shallow subtidal limestone in the Forest Marble Formation of the United Kingdom.
