Taxonomy
Zamoramys extraneus was named by Peláez-Campomanes and López-Martínez (1996). Its type specimen is DPUCM SCL-10, a tooth (m2 inf. sin.), and it is not a trace fossil. Its type locality is Santa Clara de Avedillo, which is in a Lutetian fluvial claystone in Spain.
