Taxonomy
Asiahesperornis bazhanovi was named by Nessov and Prizemlin (1991). Its type specimen is IZASK 5/287/86a, a set of limb elements, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Priozernyi Quarry, Kushmurun, which is in a Maastrichtian marine sandstone in the Zhuravlevskaya Formation of Kazakhstan. It is the type species of Asiahesperornis.
