Taxonomy
Scalaria gracilior was named by Meyer (1886) [DISTRIBUTION: Middle Eocene; Gulf Coastal Plain.]. Its type specimen is USNM 638816, a shell, and it is not a trace fossil.

It was recombined as Acirsa (Hemiacirsa) gracilior by Palmer and Brann (1966).
