It was corrected as Strombus bonellii by Brongniart (1823); it was recombined as Strombus (Canarium) bonelli by Steininger (1971); it was recombined as Strombus (Strombus) bonelli by Baluk (1995); it was recombined as Persististrombus bonellii by Kronenberg and Lee (2007) and Harzhauser et al. (2009).
