Taxonomy
Pleurotomaria (Stenoloron) viennayi was named by Oehlert and Oehlert (1888) [Pleurotomaria (Stenoloron) Viennayi Oehlert & Oehlert 1888]. It is not a trace fossil. It is the type species of Stenoloron.

It was recombined as Stenoloron (Stenoloron) viennayi by Frýda (2000); it was recombined as Stenoloron viennayi by Knight et al. (1960), Farrell (1992), Wagner (2023).
