Taxonomy

Murex spinulosus was named by Deshayes (1865) [DISTRIBUTION: Eocene; western Europe.]. It is not a trace fossil.

It was recombined as Hexaplex spinulosus by Piccoli and Savazzi (1983); it was recombined as Poirieria (Flexopteron) spinulosa by Pacaud and Le Renard (1995).
