Taxonomy
Nautilus (Cymatoceras) pseudoatlas was named by Yabe and Shimizu (1924) [DISTRIBUTION: Senonian; Japan.]. It is not a trace fossil. Its type locality is North of Himenoura, Amakusa, which is in a Santonian marine siliciclastic in Japan.

It was recombined as Cymatoceras pseudoatlas by Kobayashi (1954), Matsumoto and Muramoto (1983), Wilmsen and Yazykova (2003).
