Taxonomy
Sakhacyathus karpinskii was named by Osadchaya and Kotelnikov (1998). It is not a trace fossil. Its type locality is Bayan Kol River, Sayan, N. mariinskii zone, which is in an Atdabanian reef, buildup or bioherm limestone in the Bayan Kol Formation of the Russian Federation.
