Taxonomy
Botauroides parvus was named by Shufeldt (1915). Its type specimen is YPM 1030, a set of limb elements, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Spanish John's Meadow, which is in an Eocene terrestrial horizon in the Bridger Formation of Wyoming. It is the type species of Botauroides.
