Taxonomy
Paratrematoceras was named by Schastlivtseva (1981) [Sepkoski's age data: Tr Olen Tr Anis Sepkoski's reference number: 995]. Its type is Paratrematoceras shevyrevi.

It was assigned to Michelinoceratinae by Schastlivtseva (1988); to Orthoceratidae by Grǎdinaru et al. (2007); and to Trematoceratidae by Pohle and Klug (2024).
